Four-piston hydraulic brakes from the German brand Magura, for E-MTB, S-Pedelec and e-scooters and, with adapters, for Sur-Ron and Talaria. Choose the MT5, MT5 eSTOP, MT5e HIGO (NO) or MT7 PRO brake set, then add a Dovetail Interlink rotor in 180, 203 or 220 mm, a QM 44 or QM 46 caliper adapter and 8.R race pads. Each set covers one wheel.

How the Magura sets differ
All of them pair a four-piston caliper with a radial master cylinder, a 2200 mm hose and Royal Blood mineral oil. What changes is the lever and the pads:
- MT5: two-finger lever and 9.P Performance pads, with the MT7 caliper design and a simpler lever.
- MT5 eSTOP: two-finger aluminium lever and 8.S Sport pads, made for motorised machines.
- MT5e HIGO (NO): three-finger lever, 9.P pads and a normally open brake switch in the lever.
- MT7 PRO: one-finger HC lever, Carbotecture SL body and 8.P Performance pads.
Choosing the rotor and adapter
Magura Dovetail Interlink rotors join the outer and inner rings with a dovetail lock for stiffness and better heat management. The 220 mm disc is listed for Sur-Ron, Talaria, E Ride Pro, 79 Bike, Zbike and E-TMX; the 203 mm rotor suits E-MTB, S-Pedelec, Sur-Ron and Talaria; both use the six-bolt IS mount. The 180 mm disc is for E-MTB, S-Pedelec, city, gravel and mountain bikes. Moving to a bigger rotor without new calipers? The QM 44 takes a post mount caliper from 180 to 203 mm and the QM 46 from 203 to 220 mm.
Pads and fluid
Magura 8.R Race pads give an aggressive initial bite and stay stable at high temperature in the MT5, MT5e, MT5 eSTOP and MT7. When you bleed the system, use Magura Royal Blood mineral oil only, never DOT fluid. Unused items in unopened packaging can be returned within 14 calendar days.
Frequently asked questions
MT5 or MT7 PRO: what is the difference?
Both share the same four-piston caliper concept. The MT5 has a simpler two-finger lever and 9.P pads; the MT7 PRO adds a one-finger HC lever, a Carbotecture SL body and 8.P Performance pads.
What rotor size should I use on a Sur-Ron or Talaria?
Use a 203 or 220 mm rotor with the matching mounting adapter, and always follow your frame and fork specification.
Does the MT5e HIGO (NO) cut the motor when I brake?
It can. The lever has a normally open switch that closes when you pull it, and a controller that accepts this signal can cut motor power or switch on a brake light. Check your controller wiring first.
Which brake fluid goes in a Magura brake?
Magura Royal Blood mineral oil. It does not absorb moisture from the air, and DOT fluid must never be used.
How many brake sets do I need?
Two for a complete bike. Each Magura set contains one lever, one caliper and one hose for one wheel.
