Talaria MX3 / MX4 / MX5 tuning

Power, torque and reliability - from the QS8 connector to a Torp controller and a custom battery. We tune Sting R, MX3 and MX4 for the track and for the road.

Torp / eBMX controller QS8 + 6AWG harness Gearing & throttle Road legal (L1e-B)

In short - the answer

Talaria Sting tuning - means raising power and torque by changing the controller, the power circuit and the gearing. In our Kaunas workshop we tune Sting R, MX3 and MX4 in three directions: a high-current QS8 connector with a 6AWG harness, a tunable Torp or eBMX controller (up to ~11.5 kW on the stock battery) and sprocket, throttle and software tuning - for the track or for legal road use (L1e-B).

We ship parts across the EU and worldwide, and the work itself is done in a real workshop in Kaunas, S. Raštikio g. 28 - send us the bike or the part. Every project starts with diagnostics and an individual plan - from a safe „city“ setup to a full track configuration.

01 · Where we start

Sting R, MX3 and MX4 - what we change and why

In the Talaria Sting family the limit is not the motor itself, but the stock controller, the power connectors and the gearing. Sting R, MX3 and MX4 use a 60 V (16S) system (MX5 - 72 V / 20S), and the MX4 has a sensorless IPM (interior permanent magnet) motor. With the controller and power path matched properly, we safely extract far more power from the same motor.

Figures are indicative and depend on the battery, cooling and the chosen controller. We plan the exact result after diagnostics.

02 · Power circuit

QS8 connector and 6AWG harness

The biggest bottleneck on a more powerful Talaria is not the motor, it is current. The stock connector and thinner cables heat up badly when the controller asks for more current, so power is limited and the connector can melt.

We fit a QS8 high-current connector together with a silicone 6AWG power harness - it carries far more continuous current, runs cooler and lets the controller deliver full power reliably.

We also make a QS8 → Talaria Sting adapter, so you can connect Sur-Ron type batteries, chargers or bypass solutions without cutting anything - fully plug-and-play and reversible to stock.

03 · Controller and power

A tunable controller - the core of the whole tuning job

The controller (MCU) decides how much current reaches the motor, how the throttle responds and how regen (EABS) behaves. We tune Torp and eBMX controllers: we set power modes, current limits, thermal protection and the throttle map through the app - and we program ASI and SiliXcon controllers in-house, something very few workshops do.

04 · Battery & current

Custom Li-ion batteries

A stronger controller needs a battery that can deliver more current. The stock Talaria battery works perfectly with a Torp TC500 2.X without bypass, but maximum power (~13.5-18 kW) needs a stronger pack.

In Kaunas we design and build custom Li-ion batteries - we select the cells (LG, Samsung, Molicel), nickel-weld them, and pair them with the right BMS and a genuine current reserve. More capacity means more range, and higher discharge current means stable power without interruptions.

What we assess in a battery project

Voltage (16S/20S), continuous and peak discharge current, cell class, BMS parameters, cooling and case mounting - so the pack safely handles real track loads.

05 · Road legality

Talaria Sting and road use (L1e-B)

For legal use on public roads a Talaria Sting is registered as a light motorcycle under the EU L1e-B class: up to 45 km/h, up to 4 kW, with mandatory lighting, mirrors, indicators and a horn. The registrable Sting R L1e version meets these requirements.

Registration

A registrable L1e-B version needs a licence plate, insurance and the matching licence category - check the rules in your own country.

„City“ setting

We can keep a legal 45 km/h mode in the controller for everyday use plus a separate full-power profile - no swapping parts at the track.

Road equipment

Headlight, brake light, mirrors, indicators, horn and a number plate holder.

Important: unlocking power or removing the speed limiter voids L1e-B conformity - such a bike is for closed tracks or off-road only. That is why we always set up two profiles: legal for the road and full power for the track.

06 · Process and cost

How the work runs and what the cost depends on

Consultation

We discuss the goal: daily riding, enduro or track. We plan the stages.

Diagnostics

We check the battery, controller, connectors and gearing with real measurements.

Installation

QS8, controller, battery, sprockets - and the software tuning.

Testing + warranty

Test runs, final setup and our warranty on the work.

Cost depends on the scope of the project

We do not publish exact prices in advance, because every bike and every goal is different. We send an individual quote after a short consultation and diagnostics.

Frequently asked questions

Talaria Sting tuning - FAQ

How much power can you get out of a Talaria Sting after tuning?
With a Torp TC500 2.X controller and the stock battery the Sting R / MX3 (60 V) reaches ~8 kW, and the MX4 - ~11.5 kW. With a stronger or custom battery (60-72 V) and a TC500/TC1000, ~13.5-18 kW is realistic. The final result depends on the battery discharge current and cooling.
Does tuning void the warranty and L1e conformity?
Factory L1e-B conformity applies only within the set limits (45 km/h, ≤4 kW). Once power is raised above them, public-road conformity is lost, so the bike is for track or off-road use. For its own work and the parts it installs, FabiRide provides a warranty.
Why do I need a QS8 connector and a 6AWG harness?
The stock connector and thinner cables limit current and heat up when the controller asks for more power - in the worst case the connector melts. A QS8 with a silicone 6AWG harness carries far more continuous current and runs cooler, so power is delivered safely and consistently.
Can I keep the stock Talaria battery?
Yes. Torp TC500 2.X works with a non-bypassed OEM battery and communicates with its BMS, so it controls temperature and power. For maximum power we recommend a stronger pack or our own custom Li-ion battery with a larger current reserve.
Can a Talaria Sting be registered and ridden on public roads?
The registrable Sting R L1e-B version - yes: it is registered as a light motorcycle, with a plate, insurance and the matching licence category (rules vary by country, so check yours). Once power is unlocked the bike no longer meets L1e-B and is for track/off-road only. That is why we keep a separate legal city profile in the controller.
How does Talaria Sting tuning work in practice?
Base work (QS8 connector, sprockets, controller installation and tuning) is done according to the agreed scope - send us the bike or order the parts and we ship them. A custom battery project depends on cell and component availability - we confirm the exact scope after diagnostics.
Do you only work with Talaria, or with Sur-Ron and others too?
We tune and repair Talaria (Sting R, MX3, MX4), Sur-Ron (Light Bee X, Ultra Bee, Storm Bee), Eride Pro and e-bikes. We build custom Li-ion batteries and work with BMS, controllers (MCU) and electronics. Our workshop is in Kaunas - we ship parts across the EU and worldwide and take in mail-in repairs. We were one of the first in Lithuania to import Talaria directly from the factory, and the first to officially integrate ASI controllers into Talaria motorcycles.
