The BBSHD controller upgrade that lets the motor you already own pull 4 kW.

The Bafang BBSHD is a strong motor held back by its stock controller. This kit replaces that controller with an ASI BAC855 on a harness that clicks into every original Bafang plug. Starts get harder, climbs get easier, and the throttle answers the moment you touch it.

The ASI BAC855 BBSHD controller upgrade is a plug and play replacement for the controller inside the Bafang BBSHD mid drive. It arrives configured for 4 kW and for 48V, 52V, 60V or 72V batteries, nothing is soldered, and our engineer fine tunes it with you in a remote session that comes with every kit.

What the BBSHD controller upgrade changes on your bike

The ASI BAC855 drives the BBSHD with field oriented control. In practice, the same motor pulls harder from a standstill, runs quieter and keeps its power on long climbs.

Power

Four kilowatts from the same motor

The BAC855 is set to 4 kW. As a result, starts are stronger, steep hills no longer need the lowest gear, and the motor stops hesitating when you open the throttle.

Throttle

Smooth and immediate

Field oriented control reads the motor itself, so the throttle feels linear across the whole speed range. Because the controller tunes itself to the motor, there is nothing for you to calibrate.

Battery

Any pack from 48V to 72V

The controller runs 48V, 52V, 60V and 72V batteries without reprogramming. A bigger battery later is therefore a swap, not a project.

Assist

Three levels you set in percent

Level 1 is set to 37 percent, level 2 to 65 and level 3 to 100 percent of the controller power. Each level limits speed and torque together, and you can change every one on the display.

Protection

Motor temperature sensor

The 2025 kit adds a temperature sensor to the BBSHD. The controller reads it and reduces power before heat can harm the motor. It also eases power when the battery runs low, which protects the pack.

Extras

Gear sensor and lights

A gear or shift sensor plugs straight in and pauses power for a clean shift. In addition, the harness powers 6V lights up to 500 mA, and the controller bracket shields it from water.

Battery voltage: one BBSHD controller from 48V to 72V

The ASI BAC855 runs your battery as it ships. Choose the voltage and the battery connector in the options above, and the kit arrives configured and ready for your pack.

Your battery Works with the kit Display to choose
48V (13s) Yes, as delivered FabiRide Dash Pro, or Eggrider V2 for 48V to 52V
52V (14s) Yes, as delivered FabiRide Dash Pro, or Eggrider V2 for 48V to 52V
60V (16s) Yes, as delivered FabiRide Dash Pro, or Eggrider V2 for 48V to 72V
72V (20s) Yes, as delivered FabiRide Dash Pro, or Eggrider V2 for 48V to 72V

For the connector, choose the type your battery uses: XT60 or XT90. The kit arrives with the matching plug fitted, so nothing needs to be cut or crimped.

With FabiRide Dash Pro the battery voltage setting stays yours to change. Moving from a 52V pack to a 72V pack later is then a setting on the bars, and the low voltage cut off follows the pack you set.

Choose your display: FabiRide Dash Pro or Eggrider V2

The display decides what you see on the bars and how much of the controller you can change yourself. The kit ships tuned and ready to ride with either one, but only Dash Pro talks back to the ASI.

New option

FabiRide Dash Pro

A colour touchscreen that reads the ASI BAC855 and writes settings back to it, from the handlebar or from the free FabiRide app. It covers the whole 48V to 72V range, so it never holds back your next battery.

Compact

Eggrider V2

A compact display with a phone app for the basic readings. Take the 48V to 52V version for 13s and 14s packs and the 48V to 72V version for 60V and 72V. Already riding with one? Choose “I will use my Eggrider V2” and the kit ships without a display.

What FabiRide Dash Pro adds to the BBSHD controller upgrade

Tune

Power, speed and assist from the bars

  • Change the assist levels in percent, and also the power and speed behind them
  • Build riding maps with their own speed and power, then switch between them in one tap
  • Every change goes straight to the ASI, so no laptop is needed

Battery

Change packs without reprogramming

  • Set the battery voltage yourself when you change packs, from 48V to 72V
  • The low voltage cut off then follows the pack you set
  • So there is no need to send the controller back

Temperature

The motor sensor, live

  • See the BBSHD temperature on the dashboard while you climb
  • Minimum, average and maximum also appear on the statistics screen
  • The controller still pulls power back on its own when it gets hot

Limiter

25, 45 or any speed you choose

  • Hold the bike to a speed and power ceiling, for example for bike paths or a new rider
  • Lift the limit in the app when you are off the road
  • Then hold three handlebar buttons for two seconds to put it back

Phone

Calls, messages and music

  • Answer or decline calls from the handlebar remote while you ride
  • Read incoming messages on the display as soon as they arrive
  • Skip tracks and change the volume, so your phone stays in your pocket

Safety

Crash detection, maps and ride history

  • If you crash, the display sends an SOS with your location to your emergency contacts
  • The map is also on the display, one swipe from the dashboard
  • Every ride is also recorded with its route, speed and power

The free FabiRide app

The FabiRide app is free on iPhone and Android, and the same account works in any browser at my.fabiride.com. You set the bike up there once, then come back to tune it, share it with other riders and replay your rides.

Dash Pro fits many more bikes than this kit. See every bike and controller it supports.

What is in the box

Pick your options above and the kit arrives complete. Nothing else is needed to ride.

  1. ASI BAC855 controller

Configured for 4 kW and your battery before it ships.

  2. Matched Bafang harness

Every connector fits the original BBSHD plugs. Leads are 30 cm; ask us for other lengths and we build it to measure.

  3. Display of your choice

FabiRide Dash Pro, Eggrider V2 in the version for your voltage, or none if you keep your own Eggrider V2.

  4. Controller bracket

Holds the BAC855 on the motor and shields the harness from water.

  5. Motor cover

Closes the opening the stock controller leaves on the BBSHD.

  6. Battery plug

XT60 or XT90, to match your battery.

  7. Remote tuning session

Our engineer checks your installation and tunes the controller to your battery, your riding and your terrain.

How to fit the BBSHD controller upgrade

  1. Remove the stock controller

Disconnect the battery, open the controller cover on the BBSHD and unplug the stock controller. No wire is cut.

  2. Plug in the harness

The new harness ends in the plugs the BBSHD already uses: motor phases, speed sensor, throttle, brakes, display and battery. Match them, click them home, then add the gear sensor if you have one.

  3. Mount and route

Bolt the BAC855 into its bracket on the motor, fit the motor cover and route the display lead to the bars.

  4. Tune it with us

Book the remote session that comes with the kit. Our engineer connects to the controller, checks your installation and tunes it to your battery, your riding and your terrain.

Keep it dry. Protect the controller and its white signal connector from dirt and water during and after fitting. Water inside that connector is the one failure the kit cannot protect itself against.

BBSHD controller upgrade: questions and answers

Will the ASI BAC855 fit my Bafang BBSHD?

Yes, if your bike has a Bafang BBSHD mid drive. Every connector on the harness matches the original BBSHD plugs. The kit replaces the controller only, so your motor stays exactly where it is.

How much more power does the BBSHD controller upgrade give?

The BAC855 is set to 4 kW. You feel it as harder starts, climbs that need fewer downshifts and a throttle that responds at once.

Do I need to reprogram it when I change battery voltage?

No. The controller is configured for 48V, 52V, 60V and 72V as delivered. With FabiRide Dash Pro you can also set the battery voltage yourself, so the low voltage cut off always matches your pack.

Which display should I choose for the BBSHD?

Choose FabiRide Dash Pro if you want to change power, assist levels, battery voltage and a speed limit from the bars or the app, and see the motor temperature live. Choose Eggrider V2 for a compact display: the 48V to 52V version for 13s and 14s packs, the 48V to 72V version for 60V and 72V. If you already own a 48V to 52V Eggrider V2, choose “I will use my Eggrider V2”.

Does the BBSHD controller upgrade need soldering?

No. The controller arrives configured, every plug matches the BBSHD, and the display plugs into the harness. You unplug the stock controller and plug in the new one.

Which battery connector should I order?

The type your battery already uses, XT60 or XT90. The kit arrives with the matching plug fitted, so it connects straight to your battery.

Will 4 kW overheat the motor?

The 2025 kit includes a motor temperature sensor. The controller reads it and reduces power before the motor gets too hot. With Dash Pro you also see the temperature live on the dashboard.

Can the settings be changed after delivery?

Yes. The remote tuning session comes with every kit, and we can tune the controller again for a new battery or a different riding style. With Dash Pro you change the everyday settings yourself.
