Frequently overheating your engine? Still lacking torque, traction or power drops above 30 km/h?
We have a solution! – The Sotion engine.
Looking for more torque, more stable temperatures and a noticeable power reserve without premature overheating? The Sotion Motor – redesigned from the ground up for the Sur-Ron Light Bee platform, with an enlarged stator, a larger rotor and IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) technology that improves efficiency and allows you to make more daring power gains on the track and around town.
Key highlights
- 13 kW constant power and 26 kW peak (instantaneous) – real thrust across the entire rev range.
- 22 Nm on the shaft (up to 65 Nm peak) – an aggressive bite for starts and climbs.
- RPM: up to 5200 rpm nominal and up to 10,000 rpm peak for greater transmission freedom.
- IPM design – better heat management, higher efficiency, less heat-soak.
- Compatibility with popular controllers such as ASI BAC4000/8000, EBMX X-9000, Torp, KO, Nucular, SiliXcon etc.
What is it for?
- Enduro / off-road: maximum grip and control on slow, technical sections.
- MX/track: strong mid-range and smooth traction in long corners.
- Urban and motorway sections: sufficient overhead >for 100 km/h (based on transmission).
Why choose?
- Next generation electromagnetic geometry → high torque from low speed.
- Improved cooling reserve → “slower heating” in intense stages.
- Cleaner power transmission → easier to manage wheel slip.
- Plug-and-play for the Sur-Ron Light Bee platform (with appropriate controller “tune”).

Recommendations for implementation
- Choose the right “tune” (current limits, field weakening, thermal limits).
- Assess battery current reserve (wiring, connections, BMS).
- Match the ratio to the track and the target maximum speed.
- Monitor the temperature (if there is a sensor via the controller/application).
FAQ
Compatible with OEM controller?
Aftermarket controllers (BAC, EBMX, KO, Nucular, Torp, SiliXcon) are recommended. OEM controller is not suitable.
Will you need to change the chain/sprockets?
Not necessarily, but optimising the gear ratio helps to achieve the target thrust and temperatures.
Which batteries are suitable?
Class 60/72/80 V solutions are suitable if the BMS and the wiring harness match the required current. Higher voltage → lower current for the same output.
